Tips and Tricks for Making the Most of ARIN 57

ARIN 57 is almost here — and whether you’re joining us in Louisville or logging in from your living room, a little preparation goes a long way. On Tuesday, 14 April, we held our virtual Meeting Orientation to help attendees hit the ground running. If you missed it, don’t worry. Start Here: Your Central Hub

Everything you need for ARIN 57 lives at arin.net/ARIN57. Bookmark it now. From here you can access the agenda, presentation slides, policy documents, and daily Zoom links for virtual participation. Plan to check back regularly throughout the week, as the materials are updated as the meeting progresses.

Not registered yet? ARIN’s Public Policy and Members Meetings are free and open to anyone interested in Internet number resource management. Register now and make sure you select the participation type that works for you: in-person or virtual.

Know the Draft Policies Before You Arrive

Community participation is what makes ARIN’s Policy Development Process (PDP) work. Your voice matters! One of the most valuable things you can do before ARIN 57 is to familiarize yourself with the Draft Policies up for discussion. The policy session is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon (21 April).

The Meeting Orientation dedicates significant time to walking through the six Draft Policies on the agenda, so if you have time, that section of the recording is well worth watching.

All are designed to help you understand the Draft Policies and come prepared to contribute meaningfully to the conversation.

Know Your Elected Volunteers

ARIN’s PDP is guided by community members who volunteer their time to serve in elected roles. Before the meeting, take a few minutes to get to know the people serving on the:

These volunteers want to hear from you. On site, they’ll be easy to spot — look for the ribbons on their badges. Whether you’re attending in person or virtually, don’t hesitate to reach out with your questions and comments. That kind of direct community engagement is exactly what these meetings are designed to facilitate.

A Reminder for Everyone: ARIN’s Standards of Behavior

ARIN Standards of Behavior

ARIN is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants. Every attendee, regardless of how they’re joining us, is expected to abide by the ARIN Participants Expected Standards of Behavior. You can review these Standards on the registration site: ARIN Standards of Behavior.

In short, the Standards ask all attendees to:

  • Treat each other with civility, courtesy, and respect.
  • Listen respectfully to the views of all stakeholders.
  • Make reasonable, informed comments during policy discussions.
  • Work to build consensus and find solutions.
  • Act fairly and in good faith with other participants.
  • Participate in accordance with ARIN’s PDP.

ARIN’s approach to policy is bottom-up and consensus-driven — and that only works when everyone engages in a way that is welcoming and respectful. Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. Violations will be escalated appropriately, and any allegations will be treated with the utmost care.

Attending In Person? Here’s What to Know

ARIN meeting

ARIN 57 is being held at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky, 19-22 April 2026. For hotel details, maps, and everything else you need to get settled, head to the In-Person Participants section of the registration site. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect on site:

Dress and comfort

Business casual is the standard; ARIN meetings aim to maintain a “comfortably professional” environment. Meeting rooms can run cool, so we recommend bringing a jacket or sweater!

Meals and schedule

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:00 AM ET in the Daisy Room on the second floor on Monday and Tuesday and in the Waterford Room on the 25th floor on Wednesday. Meeting sessions run from 9:00 AM to about 4:30 PM ET on Monday and Tuesday, and from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday. And don’t forget to grab a latte from our espresso bar, sponsored by Verisign, before you head into the meeting room. It’s located just outside of the Cochran Ballroom, and will be open each day beginning at 8:00 AM ET.

Customer Service Desk

Have a question about Internet number resources, ARIN membership, routing security tools, or anything else ARIN-related? Expert staff will be available at the Customer Service Desk for one-on-one support throughout the meeting — Monday and Tuesday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM ET, and Wednesday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM ET.

Speaking up

If you want to comment during a session, line up at the microphone. When you get there, clearly state your name and affiliation — this helps our transcriptionists and ensures the record is accurate. Speak slowly and clearly, and give others the opportunity to comment before returning to the mic for follow-up remarks. If speaking at a microphone isn’t in your comfort zone, you can join the Zoom webinar and submit your questions through the Q&A feature instead.

If Zoom is your backup

In-person attendees logging in to the Zoom webinar should disconnect their audio to avoid generating feedback.

Before the main meeting begins

If you’re interested in routing security, don’t miss the RPKI Deep Dive at 2:00 PM on Sunday, 19 April. ARIN experts will walk you through Route Origin Authorizations and Autonomous System Provider Authorizations and answer your questions about how RPKI can help secure your resources. Social events

Kick off the week at the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, then head to the Louisville Slugger Museum for the ARIN 57 social event on Monday evening. Just remember to wear your badge! Find full details under In-Person Participants > Social Events at arin.swoogo.com/arin57/events.

Joining Virtually? Here’s What to Know

Virtual participation options

Virtual participation at ARIN 57 is robust and fully supported. Everything you need to get started is in the Virtual Participants section of the registration site. Here’s how to get the most out of your experience:

Two access options

Each day, registered attendees will receive an email containing a Zoom link approximately 60 minutes before the meeting begins. You can also access the day’s webinar session by signing in to the registration site and selecting Virtual Event Hub under the Virtual Participants dropdown menu. Zoom is the best option if you want to participate actively — ask questions, submit comments, and take part in policy polls. If you’re watching to stay informed rather than participate directly, the YouTube livestream at arin.net/streamARIN57 is a great option. Note that the stream is slightly delayed, but presentation PDFs are posted on the Meeting Materials page so you can follow along at your own pace.

Participating in Zoom

When joining, enter your name and affiliation for accurate meeting records. Questions and comments go in the Q&A tab — not the chat. Chat is monitored for adherence to ARIN’s Standards of Behavior and is intended for informal conversation only; comments typed there will not be queued for the presenter, and please refrain from posting outside links. To ensure everyone is clicking on verified and safe content, only ARIN Virtual Hosts are permitted to share links in Chat.

If you need a moment to finish typing a question or comment in Q&A, use the Raise Hand feature in the participant panel to let us know you’re still working on it. A moderator will read your question to the presenter when it’s your turn. And remember: Always state your name and affiliation each time you comment or ask a question!

If Zoom goes down

First, try to reconnect. If the issue continues, switch to the YouTube livestream at arin.net/streamARIN57. ARIN will announce on the livestream when Zoom access has been restored, and registered attendees will also receive a notification by email.

Get help joining the meeting

The Virtual Help Desk is open daily from 8:30 to 9:30 AM ET and is accessible from the Virtual Event Hub at arin.net/ARIN57. If you have technical issues or questions about accessing the meeting, that’s your first stop.
