Policy

The ARIN community decides how ARIN will manage and administer Internet number resources. These community decisions are recorded as policies.

Policy Development Process

The ARIN Policy Development Process (PDP) is the process by which all policies governing the management of Internet number resources in the ARIN region are developed by and for the ARIN community. Policy development is an open and transparent process. Anyone may participate in the process. A prior relationship as an ARIN member or customer is not a requirement, nor is it a requirement for a person to become a member. The Policy Development Process (PDP) describes the process structure and details how a proposal becomes a policy.

The Public Policy Mailing list

All Draft Policies are discussed on ARIN’s Public Policy Mailing List (PPML). The discussion on PPML can cover a variety of policy related topics, and ARIN encourages free discussion.

Posts to the PPML should include the relevant Draft Policy number in the subject field, and should begin with a statement of support or nonsupport for the topic to allow others to follow discussions of interest more easily and make your position clear.

Number Resource Policy Manual

The Number Resource Policy Manual (NRPM) is the repository for all policies. It is updated when new policies are implemented. The change log shows the history of this document.
