Autonomous System Originations (Origin AS) Is Now Retired
Posted: Tuesday, 29 July 2025
Service Update
As previously announced, the Origin Autonomous System (Origin AS) field has been removed from the ARIN database. This change follows the ARIN Board of Trustees’ July 2023 adoption of policy ARIN-2021-8, which called for the deprecation of the ‘Autonomous System Originations’ field.
We recommend any customers who queried the Origin AS database for routing security or operational purposes to transition to a more modern and secure alternative such as Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) or the Internet Routing Registry (IRR). These tools provide more reliable and secure options for managing and verifying routing information.
For help with this transition, please contact our Registration Services Help Desk for guidance by using the “Ask ARIN” feature in your ARIN Online account, or call +1 703.227.0660, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM ET.
Regards,
American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN)
