ACSP Suggestion 2017.19: Publication of Meeting Transcripts

Suggestion

Author: Owen DeLong
Submitted On: 16 October 2017

Description:

Make live transcript available as archived transcript after meeting concludes.

Detail: ARIN already produces a “Live Transcript” during the meeting. It should not be any significant effort to capture the contents of this transcript in its entirety and publish it as a single text document in an archival capacity on the ARIN website, allowing past meetings to be searched, indexed, reviewed, etc.

Since there is no non-public data in the transcript and all is already published in video format, there should be no disclosure or privacy concerns here.

Value to Community: People would be able to review (and search) the contents of a meeting after the fact more easily.

Timeframe: Not specified

Thank you for your suggestion, numbered 2017.19 upon confirmed receipt, requesting publication of the ARIN meeting transcripts.

As confirmed through follow-up communications with you about this suggestion, ARIN does publish the full meeting transcript along with other archival information in our meeting report following each Public Policy and Members’ Meeting. For approximately one week between the conclusion of each meeting and the publishing of the meeting report and archive page, the official meeting page available leading up to and during the live event is still visible. During this period, the meeting page contains information about the meeting, but does not include a copy of the live transcript. This meeting page for the live event is fully replaced by our meeting report and archive, once it is published.

As a result of your suggestion, we will keep the live transcript, as it existed during the execution of the meeting, available on the meeting web page during the week between the close of an ARIN meeting and the publishing of the formal meeting report. This transcript will be accompanied by a disclaimer and notification that it will be replaced by the formal meeting report within one business week.

Thank you for participating in the ARIN Consultation and Suggestion Process. We are closing your suggestion with the commitment to leave the meeting transcript available for the week between the close of a meeting and the publishing of the formal meeting report in the future.
