ACSP Suggestion 2010.4: Release Class E Addresses

Description: If 32-bit IP addresses are going to be legacy, why not release the “Class E” addresses? There’s no point in reserving them for future use.

ARIN does not manage the Class E address space and is not in a position to do as you suggest. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) manages the addressing plan for the IPv4 address space and as such, any change would be determined by the IETF. Proposals similar to yours have been made in the past, but so far, there has been no agreement in the IETF to move forward with this idea.

It is possible that the authors of these documents are still interested in moving them forward, so you may want to contact them and see whether they plan to continue their work in this area.
