Suggestion

Author: Stephen Sprunk
Submitted On: 22 March 2007

Description:

ARIN should begin a community outreach program promoting IPv6, including but not limited to ads and/or articles in popular trade magazines and newspapers informing people of the anticipated run-out date of IPv4, material describing how companies can manage their transition, and describing how ARIN can help. The target audience for this should specifically be people who do not participate in groups such as ARIN PPML, NANOG, etc. such as CIOs and IT managers.

ARIN should request and, if needed, fund the development of any projections, studies, documentation, training materials, etc. required to assist in this effort.

ARIN undertakes numerous types of educational activities to explain IPv6 protocol and how to request IPv6 address space from ARIN. Promotion of specific technology, however, is not within ARIN’s charter.
