Protecting Your Resources with RPKI
Presented by John Curran, President and CEO, ARIN
Wednesday, 7 Dec., 9-9:50 a.m. MT in Plaza Ballroom D/E

The Internet runs on the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). When BGP was released, it was designed to be easy, but it was not very secure. The Internet Routing Registry (IRR) ecosystem allows resource holders to tell other operators where to go and find the correct destination. Over time BGP and the IRR have been updated by adding features to enhance routing security, but human error and malicious activity can still impact your resources and your business. The Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) offers another level of protection that allows you to make a cryptographic certifiable statement that confirms you are the rightful source for the resources allocated to you. Come find out how RPKI is the best way to keep your data flowing and your business safe from accidental or intentional actions of others. Find out how to get started using ARIN’s RPKI services and strengthen your routing security. Also hear more about the recent changes to the ARIN LRSA/RSA process that streamlines covering your legacy resources under an LRSA/RSA.

Panel: Influencing Tech Policy for Good
Including John Curran, President and CEO, ARIN
Wednesday, 7 Dec., 2:40-3:30 p.m. MT in Plaza Ballroom D/E

Do you read articles about Internet censorship, corporate data collection, or new FCC rules that make you wonder how these decisions are made, and by whom? Technology policy and regulatory decisions at the national level affect our campuses, our profession, and our personal lives. But too often it’s seen as an area in which we as individuals can have little impact. We’ll have a panel discussion on how, why, and where you can get involved, how you can work with others in the R&E community, and how you can make a change for good. You don’t have to have a background in public policy to make a difference!
