Panel: State of the IPv4 Market
Sunday, 15 January, 3:30-4:45 PM HST
Moderated by: John Curran, ARIN President and CEO
Featuring: John Sweeting, ARIN Chief Customer Officer

IANA declared IPv4 depletion more than seven years ago when it issued its final available /8 blocks to the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). However, networks around the world continue to grow, requiring additional IP addresses to enable that growth, yet the path to acquiring those IP addresses is no longer as clear as it was prior to depletion. This panel will bring together experts in the IPv4 address market, representatives of RIRs, and networking professionals to help organizations make a clear and coherent plan to continue acquiring the IP addresses needed to fuel the continued growth of their businesses. We’ll hear from experts on the options available to organizations who seek to acquire IPv4 addresses, what role brokers play, and how transfers are completed through RIRs. We’ll also cover options like leasing versus purchasing of IPv4 addresses and recent movements in market pricing, the state of IPv6 adoption, and what options exist for organizations to obtain IP addresses outside the transfer market.
