Editorial Change ARIN-edit-2020-4
Clarification of reference to 8.2 in 8.3
Status: Implemented 22 September 2020 Shepherds: Alison Wood, Kat Hunter
Current Text (24 January 2020)
Section 8.3 refers to transfers completed under 8.2 when it actually intends to reference addresses received through transfers under section 8.2.
Change the last sentence of the second bullet of section 8.3:
The source entity must not have received a transfer, allocation, or assignment of IPv4 number resources from ARIN for the 12 months prior to the approval of a transfer request. This restriction does not include 8.2 transfers.
The source entity must not have received a transfer, allocation, or assignment of IPv4 number resources from ARIN for the 12 months prior to the approval of a transfer request. Number resources received as the result of an 8.2 transfer are out of scope for the purposes of this restriction.
Timetable for Implementation: Immediate
I propose this as an editorial change for clarity.
Staff and Legal Review (13 July 2020)
Staff understands that this Editorial Change clarifies language in 8.3. to specifically refer to addresses received through transfers under section 8.2. as opposed to the transfers themselves.
ARIN Staff Comments
This language is clearly understood as an Editorial Change to improve clarity.
ARIN General Counsel – Legal Assessment
There is no material legal impact.
Implementation of this policy would have a solely editorial resource impact. It is estimated that it would take one month to implement, and would require:
- Staff training
- Updated guidelines and internal procedures
- Updated documentation on website
