Matthew has become a trusted and respected voice in the Caribbean tech space – both in the English and French-speaking Caribbean. He is often one of the few to highlight imminent issues before they become mainstream, which can be crucial in helping individuals and organisations, to think strategically – especially regarding the range of countervailing issues and forces that ought to be considered. I support Matthew’s candidacy and believe he would be an invaluable member of the ARIN Advisory Council.

Brown, John
Author: James Shank
Submitted: Monday, 16 September 2024, 13:51 ET
Hello ARIN! I am writing to offer my full and unreserved recommendation for John Brown’s candidacy. I have known John for somewhere around ten years and I worked with John on the same team during our overlapping time at Team Cymru. I consider John a friend. John has an unabashed love for the Internet and for ensuring safe and sound operations, primarily through a focus on the operators themselves. He has an impressive understanding of Internet governance concerns, and has a deep understanding of the history of Internet governance and operations. He is well connected both within the U.S. operators community as well as international operators community. John’s knowledge and skills qualify him for candidacy. John’s character seals the deal. I have had several conversations with John over the years, both individually and in group settings. I have agreed with him and disagreed with him. In all my exchanges, and all the conversations I have had with John, his sound reason, calm but passionate demeanor, and his ability to reflect on the bigger picture - with an emphasis on people as a first priority - makes him an ideal candidate for ARIN’s Board of Trustees. Again, John has my full and unreserved support for a Board seat.
Burns, Mike
Author: Christopher Maher
Submitted: Tuesday, 15 October 2024, 08:52 ET
To whom it may concern, I have worked in the IPv4 space for around 17 years now. Over that time, I have worked with most of the RIR approved IP brokers (Mills, Sanchez, Marcus, Vincent, etc.), and a good chunk of those peddling space across LinkedIn, WHT and alike channels in the E.U. based brokers. Speaking from experience in the small to midmarket IP space, Burns is top notch and sets the bar for the industry every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. I have worked with their operations a good 10 years, and they are professional, fair and always willing to go the extra mile. When I was jammed up after my sister’s cancer situation, they were very understanding and helped me stay in business versus a tough time in my personal life. With that said, there are very few quality IP providers out there doing long term leasing you can 100% trust with no concerns, and Mike Burns and his operation is one of them. Many of these other providers are peddling, at best, ‘grey’ IP space with shady POC’s that will not pass a whiff test, or space that it suspected hijacked (for those of us who can tell the difference). They will pull ranges @ whim, and the way they do business in general is just not solid where you can sleep @ night. When it comes to the top dogs in the IP space, Mike is who you want showing others how it SHOULD BE DONE!!! I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with him and his partner over a decade plus in working with them getting the gold star standards and he is an asset to have on your board. Sincerely, Christopher Maher ThunderBox Inc.

Dear Members of the ARIN Board of Trustees Nomination Committee, I’m writing to wholeheartedly endorse Mike Burns for a position on the ARIN Board of Trustees. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Mike, and I can genuinely say he’s been instrumental in our company’s success. When we faced challenges moving some of our largest customers, Mike stepped in and provided expert advice that turned the situation around. His deep knowledge of IPv4 addresses and the complexities of the market were nothing short of impressive. He didn’t just offer generic solutions; he took the time to understand our specific needs and crafted strategies that worked. I was beyond impressed by his ability to simplify complex issues and navigate us through the process smoothly. Mike helped us sell thousands of IP addresses, a feat that seemed daunting before his involvement. His services went above and beyond what we’d experienced with others in the industry. Working with him wasn’t just productive—it was a breath of fresh air. His dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for our success made all the difference. What truly sets Mike apart is his integrity and commitment to the community. He’s not just a businessman; he’s a visionary who understands the broader implications of his work. His involvement in Internet governance and policy-making with ARIN and other regional registries speaks volumes about his dedication to the field. He’s someone who doesn’t shy away from rolling up his sleeves and getting involved where it counts. I actually learned most of what I know about ARINs inner workings from talking to Mike. I believe Mike’s unique blend of expertise, experience, and character makes him an ideal candidate for the ARIN Board of Trustees. He brings a perspective that’s both global and deeply personal, understanding the technical nuances and the human elements of Internet resource management. I can’t recommend Mike highly enough. He’s been a real asset to us, and I have no doubt he’ll bring the same passion and excellence to the ARIN Board. If you have any questions or would like to discuss my experiences with him further, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, Vincent DePalo

Dear ARIN Members,
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mike Burns as his business partner for nearly 40 years, as he shepherded our company through the ever-changing IT landscape. Whether it was during our formative years as computer network installers and system integrators, our middle years as an ISP and WISP, or, more recently, as IP brokers and consultants, Mike always grasped the “big picture” of where technology was leading us and charted the wisest paths accordingly.
Mike not only has the experience that running a technology-based company for decades brings, but as an IP broker, he has gained the shared experience of the technological needs of hundreds of companies, large and small, throughout North America and around the globe.
I can emphatically state that Mike’s experience and contributions to RIR policy-making and his commitment to the multi stakeholder model of Internet governance would make him an excellent addition to ARIN’s Board of Trustees.
Sincerely,
Tom Fantacone

He is highly literate in the deployment of broadband and is very well spoken. I think both of these qualities are important, but I would rate his most valuable quality to ARIN is his humble determination. I have seen him take on significant tasks that others have left in exasperation. I have seen him converse with brilliant minds and yet have an ear and respect for those who spend their days working with wrenches, to expand Internet connectivity.
