The Internet Society (ISOC) recently launched the IETF Endowment to provide the IETF with direct financial support aimed at ensuring long-term, sustainable funding for the development, evolution, and use of open Internet protocols.

ARIN stands behind the work of the IETF and the thousands of volunteer contributors from around the world who work to develop and maintain the open protocols that make the Internet possible. In January of this year, the ARIN Board of Trustees (https://www.arin.net/about_us/bot/bot2016_0111.html) approved contributing up to two million dollars to the IETF Endowment, reflecting this strong commitment by the ARIN community to the Internet protocols and related work of the IETF.

Today, ARIN has made an initial contribution of one million dollars to the IETF Endowment. This was done in coordination with contributions from other RIRs and the Internet Society. ARIN will undertake a second contribution of similar amount at a later date, in conjunction with additional organizations contributing financial support to the endowment.
