On April 8, 2005, ICANN officially recognized AFRINIC as the fifth Regional Internet Registry (RIR). AFRINIC’s recognition took place during the ICANN Board meeting in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

ARIN celebrates this event and welcomes AFRINIC to the Regional Internet Registry community.
