Opening and Announcements

John Curran opened the meeting with announcements and thanked TELX for sponsoring network connectivity for ARIN XXVI. He reminded all participants to complete the meeting survey.

He addressed an after-hours question about the relationship between ARIN and NEWNOG and the support that ARIN is providing to that organization.

ARIN Financial Report

ARIN Reports - Engineering Activities

  • Operations activities: equipment updating, PFS–lite installs around the region, maintain all (slide)
  • Whois-RWS traffic: IPv6, Whois/Whois-RWS traffic load changes in the last 6 months, spike in September
  • Kudos to Development, QA and Operations for developing very clean code for Whois-RWS that has made this transition remarkably smooth
  • Upcoming changes: Zone management through ARIN Online, new templates with API keys
  • RPKI status: Board is evaluating risk and liabilities of related services. The community will be given an opportunity to comment on these findings
  • Ongoing/upcoming challenges and research

  • Will ARIN be contacting 3.0 template users directly to inform them of upcoming changes?
  • Have you done source IP analysis of the Whois-RWS traffic spike? Working on figuring out the source and cause, will report finding.

  • Suggestion the ARIN develop a premium Whois service for members
