Requesting Removal of Stale Reassignment or Reallocation Records

ARIN has a procedure in place that allows for the removal of stale reassignment and reallocation records. Organizations that are no longer using the IP addresses listed in a SWIP record should take the following steps to have it deleted.

Step 1

Organizations that are no longer using the IP addresses listed in a SWIP record should contact the listed upstream ISP using the contact information listed in Whois to have it removed.

Step 2

If the upstream ISP does not respond to the request within a reasonable time, the organization should re-send the removal request to the listed upstream ISP’s Whois contacts via email and cc: hostmaster@arin.net.  This will generate an autoreply to the organization with a ticket number.

Step 3

If the upstream ISP does not respond within five business days, the organization should contact ARIN, reference the ticket number, and indicate the SWIP has not been removed.  Unless ARIN has been contacted by the upstream ISP with confirmation the SWIP record is correct, ARIN will then remove the SWIP record.
