Phase 3 of the ARIN IPv4 Countdown Plan is a continuation of Phase 2, so it's business as usual for all IPv4 requests smaller than a /16, but if your organization is requesting a /16 or larger allocation, request processing will be somewhat different.
You will receive the standard request acknowledgement email, and when the requests are sorted by size for processing you will receive an additional email that notifies you that your request has been moved to the IPv4 Review Team queue.
All /16 and larger IPv4 requests will be placed in the team queue, and will be reviewed in the order they were received according to their timestamp. This applies to initial submissions and subsequent replies, so your timely response to requests for additional data is important. The IPv4 Review team is comprised of ARIN's senior Registration Services staff who will be using this opportunity to gain experience with team review procedures so that ARIN can make any needed refinements prior to reaching the last /8 of IPv4 inventory. Because each correspondence will be processed in sequence, it is possible that response times may exceed our usual two-day turnaround.
Other Important Changes
- Once a request is approved, the requestor will have 60 days to complete payment and return a signed RSA (if applicable). If payment and signed RSA have not been received by the 61st day, the ticket will automatically close, the address space will be released back into the available IPv4 pool, and a new request will need to be submitted. This change to the approval window from 90 days to 60 days will apply to all IPv4 requests, but not to IPv6 and ASN requests.
- The hold time before returned, reclaimed and revoked resources are available for reissue is also reduced from six to three months.
