On 30 August 2006, the ARIN Board of Trustees, based on the recommendation of the Advisory Council and noting that the Internet Resource Policy Evaluation Process had been followed, adopted the following policy proposal:

2005-9: 4-Byte AS Number

Per the implementation schedule contained in the policy (NRPM Section 5.1), commencing 1 January 2007, ARIN will process applications that specifically request 32-bit AS Numbers. Templates will be available online and they may be submitted prior to 1 January 2007 but will not be processed until 2 January 2007 due to the holiday schedule.
