Introduction
ARIN is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete registration records of Internet number resources. This support constitutes a significant portion of the registry services ARIN performs. To provide for an equitable, cost-effective registration process, ARIN generally charges fees for the initial registration of a number resource received directly from ARIN, and an annual fee thereafter. For allocations, these fees are based on the amount of address space allocated per Org ID and cover the cost of maintaining allocation information. For IP address assignments and other resource registrations, ARIN charges a flat fee annually that covers all such types of number resource registrations.

Related Fee Information
IPv4 Allocations
Initial IPv4 Allocation Registration
ARIN charges a registration fee to organizations approved to receive an initial direct IPv4 allocation, based on the size of the allocation. ARIN will only complete the registration of the allocation upon its receipt of this payment and a signed Registration Services Agreement (RSA). Fees for the registration of an IPv4 allocation may be affected by the fee schedule for Org IDs associated with both IPv4 and IPv6 Allocations.
Annual IPv4 Allocation Subscription Renewal
Organizations must pay an annual subscription renewal fee for direct allocations. ARIN sends invoices for this fee two months before the due date.
When ARIN approves an organization's request for additional IPv4 address allocations, and the additional address space moves it into a larger size category in any given anniversary year, ARIN issues an invoice for the new fee two months prior to when the subscriber's next annual subscription renewal fee is due.
Organizations must ensure that their annual subscription renewal payment is made by their anniversary due date in accordance with the Registration Services Agreement. If not paid according to those terms, the address space will be subject to revocation and ARIN will no longer consider the organization a General Member in good standing.
IPv4 Initial Allocation and Annual Subscription Renewal Fees
The following fees apply to organizations with Org IDs associated with direct allocations from ARIN. The amounts for the initial allocation registration fee and the annual subscription renewal fee are the same for each size category.
| Size Category | Fee (US Dollars) | Total Allocation Block Size |
|---|---|---|
| X-small/ Micro-allocation |
$1,250/year | blocks smaller than a /20 |
| Small | $2,250/year | blocks from a /20 to a /19 in size |
| Medium | $4,500/year | blocks larger than a /19, up to and including a /16 |
| Large | $9,000/year | blocks larger than a /16, up to and including a /14 |
| X-large | $18,000/year | blocks larger than a /14 |
Note: This table refers to the size of the address blocks associated with CIDR prefixes. Standard notation implies that longer prefixes reference blocks of smaller size, i.e. a /20 has fewer addresses than a /19.
IPv4 Assignments
IPv4 Assignment (End-users)
Initial IPv4 Assignment Registration Fee
ARIN charges an initial registration fee to organizations for the assignment of IPv4 address space directly from ARIN. ARIN will only complete the assignment of the address space upon its receipt of this payment and a signed Registration Services Agreement (RSA).
The registration fee is based on the amount of address space assigned as outlined below.
| Category | Initial Registration Fee (US Dollars) |
Assignment Block Size |
|---|---|---|
| X-small/ Micro-allocation |
$1,250 | blocks smaller than a /20 |
| Small | $2,250 | blocks from a /20 to a /19 in size |
| Medium | $4,500 | blocks larger than a /19, up to and including a /16 |
| Large | $9,000 | blocks larger than a /16, up to and including a /14 |
| X-large | $18,000 | blocks larger than a /14 |
Note: This table refers to the size of the address blocks associated with CIDR prefixes. Standard notation implies that longer prefixes reference blocks of smaller size, i.e. a /20 has fewer addresses than a /19.
Annual Maintenance Fee
Organizations must pay a consolidated annual maintenance fee to cover all AS numbers, IPv4 or IPv6 assignments, or network transfers associated with an Org ID. However if the Org ID is also associated with a direct allocation of IP address space from ARIN, this fee is not charged.
For details about this fee, please see the Annual Maintenance Fee section of this Fee Schedule.

Related Fee Information
IPv6 Allocations
Initial IPv6 Allocation Registration
ARIN charges a fee to organizations approved to receive an initial direct IPv6 allocation, based on the size of the allocation. ARIN will only complete the allocation of the address space upon its receipt of this payment and a signed Registration Services Agreement (RSA). Fees for the registration of an IPv6 allocation may be affected by the fee schedule for Org IDs associated with both IPv4 and IPv6 Allocations or by current waivers in effect.
Annual IPv6 Allocation Subscription Renewal
Organizations must pay an annual subscription renewal fee for direct allocations. ARIN sends invoices for this fee two months before the due date.
When ARIN approves an organization's request for additional IPv6 allocations, and the additional space moves it into a larger size category in any given anniversary year, ARIN issues an invoice for the new fee two months prior to when the subscriber's next annual subscription renewal fee is due.
Organizations must ensure that their annual subscription renewal payment is made by their anniversary due date in accordance with the Registration Services Agreement. If not paid according to those terms, the address space will be subject to revocation and ARIN will no longer consider the organization a General Member in good standing.
IPv6 Initial Allocation and Annual Subscription Renewal Fees
Note: The IPv6 fee schedule shown below is currently effected by a fee-reduced waiver, in effect through 2012. When the waiver expires IPv6 Allocation fees will revert to this schedule.
| Category | Fee (US Dollars) | Total Allocation Block Size |
|---|---|---|
| X-small/ Micro-allocation |
$1,250/year | blocks from a /48 to a /41in size |
| Small | $2,250/year | blocks equal to or larger than a /40, up to and including a /32 |
| Medium | $4,500/year | blocks from a /31 to a /30 in size |
| Large | $9,000/year | blocks equal to or larger than a /29, up to and including a /27 |
| X-large | $18,000/year | blocks equal to or larger than a /26, up to and including a /22 |
| XX-Large | $36,000/year | blocks larger than a /22 |
Note: This table refers to the size of the address blocks associated with CIDR prefixes. Standard notation implies that longer prefixes reference blocks of smaller size, i.e. a /32 has fewer addresses than a /31.
This fee structure was effective as of 1 January 2005 and amended on 12 February 2006.
IPv6 Assignments
IPv6 Assignment (End-users)
Initial Assignment Registration Fee
ARIN charges an initial registration fee to organizations that receive an assignment of IPv6 address space directly from ARIN. ARIN will only complete the assignment of the address space upon its receipt of this payment and a signed Registration Services Agreement (RSA).
The initial registration fee is based on the amount of address space assigned as outlined below.
| Category | Initial Registration Fee (US Dollars) |
Assignment Block Size |
|---|---|---|
| X-small/ Micro-allocation |
$1,250 | blocks from a /48 to a /41in size |
| Small | $2,250 | blocks equal to or larger than a /40, up to and including a /32 |
| Medium | $4,500 | blocks from a /31 to a /30 in size |

| XX-Large | $36,000 | blocks larger than a /22 |
Note: This table refers to the size of the address blocks associated with CIDR prefixes. Standard notation implies that longer prefixes reference blocks of smaller size, i.e. a /32 has fewer addresses than a /31.
Org IDs associated with both IPv4 and IPv6 Allocations
Initial Allocation Registration Fee
ARIN waives the IPv6 Initial Allocation Fee for organizations that hold a direct IPv4 allocation from ARIN, are current in any fees owed, and are approved for an IPv6 allocation under the same Organization ID (Org ID).
Annual Subscription Renewal Fee
Organizations holding direct allocations of both IPv4 and IPv6 address space from ARIN under a single Org ID only pay the larger of the two annual subscription renewal fees. For example, if an organization owed $4,500 for an IPv4 allocation subscription renewal, and under the same Org ID had an IPv6 allocation subscription renewal which would be billed at $2,250, the organization would only pay the $4,500 to cover both IPv4 and IPv6 subscription renewals. Likewise, if the fee owed for IPv6 was larger, that larger amount would cover both IPv4 and IPv6 subscription renewals under the same Org ID.
Annual Subscription Renewal Fees for Organizations with Multiple Org IDs
Organizations that maintain direct allocations from ARIN under multiple Org IDs are subject to an annual subscription renewal fee for each Org ID that is associated with a direct allocation.
Annual Membership Fee
Membership with ARIN is open to any individual or organization interested in being involved in helping shape the development of the Internet by participating in ARIN activities. Membership is offered regardless of whether the entity or individual receives Internet number resources directly from ARIN. Likewise, membership is not a requirement for receiving resources.
Organizations that have received and paid for the registration of an allocation of IP addresses are automatically accorded membership as part of the fee for the registration of an allocation. Please note that this automatic membership is not extended to organizations that have received an allocation and had the fees associated with it waived. Paid membership is available to any individual or organization for an annual fee of $500 (US). In order to retain membership rights, these members are responsible for keeping their membership current by submitting the annual renewal fee by their anniversary date. Invoices for this fee are sent out two months prior to the anniversary date.
Autonomous System (AS) Numbers
Initial Registration Fee
ARIN charges an initial fee of $500 (USD) for the registration of each AS number assigned. ARIN will only complete the assignment of the AS number upon its receipt of this payment and a signed Registration Services Agreement (RSA).
Transfers of Internet Number Resources
Initial Transfer Fee
Any entities receiving transferred Internet number resources by virtue of an organization name change, merger, acquisition, or other approved change will be charged a transfer fee of $250 (USD) to cover the administrative costs associated with processing the transfer. ARIN charges only one initial transfer fee in cases where entities transfer multiple resources under the same request (having the same ticket number).
Annual Fees
Organizations receiving transferred Internet number resources are charged either an annual subscription renewal fee or an annual maintenance fee.
Annual Subscription Renewal Fees
Org IDs already associated with a direct allocation from ARIN, upon receipt of a transferred direct allocation, will maintain their current anniversary date and may upgrade to a larger annual subscription renewal fee based on size of the address block transferred.
If an ISP receiving the transferred allocation does not currently hold a direct allocation from ARIN, a new subscription account will be created. When a subscription account is fully transferred, the new account will inherit the size classification and anniversary date of the account from which the resources were transferred. Otherwise an annual subscription fee will be assessed on the anniversary date of the transfer based on the size of the address block.
All fees charged for direct allocations of IPv4 space are listed above under "IPv4 Initial Allocation and Annual Subscription Renewal Fees." For information about fees applicable to transfers of IPv6 allocations, please see the "IPv6 Allocations" section above.
Annual Maintenance Fees
If the end-user receiving the transferred allocation does not currently hold any ARIN resources, a new end-user account will be created and an annual maintenance fee will be charged.
Org IDs currently paying a maintenance fee for ARIN resources will not be charged an additional maintenance fee on the transferred resources they receive
For information about these maintenance fees, please see the Annual Maintenance Fee section below.
Micro-allocations
ARIN charges organizations receiving micro-allocations according to the fees described in this document for IPv4 allocations, IPv4 assignments, IPv6 allocations, or IPv6 assignments.
Experimental Allocation Fee
ARIN charges organizations receiving an experimental allocation an administration fee. Allocations are good for a period of one year. Experimental allocations do not qualify organizations for automatic ARIN membership.
For more information, see Section 11 of the Number Resource Policy Manual (NRPM) covering Experimental Allocations.
| Category | Fee (US Dollars) |
|---|---|
| Experimental IPv4 allocation | $500 |
| Experimental IPv6 allocation* | $500 |
| Experimental ASN assignment | $500, if standalone request. There is no fee charged for an ASN assigned along with an experimental IPv4 or IPv6 allocation |
* Please note that these allocations are not covered under any fee waivers currently in effect.
Annual Legacy Maintenance Fee
ARIN assesses an annual maintenance fee of $100 (USD) per OrgID to organizations that hold legacy resources and choose to submit a Legacy Registration Services Agreement (Legacy RSA) . This fee covers the cost of maintaining assignment information for these specific types of resources and is separate from the annual maintenance fee due for IP address assignments, ASNs, and transfers. There is no initial registration fees for legacy applicants and no other fee charged for this service. Fees shall be maintained at the rate of $100 (USD) until 2013, however fees may be waived if the legacy applicant returns one-fourth or more of the number resources covered by the Legacy RSA. ARIN will accept the return of any IPv4 address block with a prefix length /24 or shorter.
ARIN will invoice organizations two months prior to the anniversary date of its legacy resource registration, and the payment is due by that anniversary date.
Organizations must ensure that their annual payment is made by the due date on their invoice, in accordance with the Legacy Registration Services Agreement, which details the relationship established between ARIN and the legacy resource holder and the associated terms and conditions.
Annual Maintenance Fee
An organization will receive an invoice for its ARIN annual maintenance fee two months before the fee is due. The due date for fees is the last day of the month in which an organization's anniversary date occurs. An anniversary date is the day on which an organization received its first resource from ARIN. Payment must be made by the due date, in accordance with the Registration Services Agreement. If fees are not paid, the number resources related to the invoice will be subject to revocation.
When a single Org ID has more than one resource registered with ARIN (e.g. AS numbers, IPv4 or IPv6 assignments, or network transfers), ARIN charges only a single maintenance fee of $100 annually.
Online Payments
ARIN offers online payment services to all organizations and individuals with payments due.
Organizations may choose to use American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa credit cards, or may choose to be billed. Using web-based forms, customers who select the credit card method will be automatically connected to a secure area for entering credit account information. For the protection of our customers, all online payment transactions and credit account information will be processed using secure protocols. Credit card numbers are not retained by ARIN in any way.
Organizations with outstanding resource requests, upon completing and submitting the requisite forms, will receive the status of the transaction request while they wait. Once a transaction has been completed, the customer will receive a confirmation e-mail message. After a signed Registration Services Agreement (for initial requests) is received and any payment due is processed, ARIN releases the resource to the organization.
Waiver Information
IPv6 Waivers - - Effective 1 January 2008
Authorization of Waiver
The ARIN Board of Trustees, at its meeting on 22 July 2007, established a new fee waiver for IPv6 Allocations which took effect on 1 January 2008.
Waiver Information
Effective 1 January 2008, the following waiver was put in place for IPv6 Allocations from ARIN.
IPv6 Initial Allocation and Annual Subscription Renewal Fees are partially waived, according the percentages given below.
