About La Ruelle des Fortifications
La Ruelle des Fortifications is a narrow, soaring atrium that houses boutiques, a food court, frequent art exhibits, and Montréal's own chunk of the Berlin Wall, complete with graffiti. The semireclining statue of Amphitrite (Poseidon's wife) overlooking the fountain is an 18th-century piece from the municipal fountain of St-Mihiel-de-la-Meuse in France. This location marks the place where the city walls once stood. Developers glassed in the lane and sandblasted and restored 11 of the 19th-century buildings that lined it.
